I'm back home...

Now I'm working until april as a climbing teacher and I'm responsible for the climbing gym.
The last weeks, it was to warm for iceclimbing, but since a few days the ice conditions are getting better
Meanwhile we are waisting our time on the slopes.
For 2012 I have a new sponsor. Beal equips me with climbing ropes.
I'm very pleased to work together with Beal.

Perfect 2 climbing days

The 2 last days, it was good weather with perfect climbing conditions.

First we were in Àger, it's a little bit higher with a beautiful view.
It's a really flat wall, really technical with small sharp holds.
I love it. For me it's very interesting to climb different styles, different walls, one day overhanging, second day vertical or flat climbing.
I'm not really good in deep routes, so Àger is perfect for me.
In the second try I climbed "Chile Habanero" (8a), "El Senor de los Martillos" (8a) and flashed "No Future" (7c+).
These are not really hard, but after my long climbing break I'm very happy.
On the second day we went to Terradets. It's an really amazing wall.
I'd like to have something like this at home!
There are a lot of amazing lines to climb. I chose the "Formula Weekend" (8a) and climbed it at the second try. Not really deep, but about 30 meters long with 2 cruxes, holes, tufas, it's so diversified.
Also the other route named "Orient" (7c+) I flashed it, but now I'm out of power and need a restday...

Spain

After Gap I went to Spain and met some italian friends from last year.

First we went to Montgrony, that's in the north of Spain. There you have a lot of rock and the most you can belay from the car....
You have a lot of tufas and also really overhanging routes.
A really nice place to stay with a beautiful view.
I climbed an really cool line (8a+) and I'm so happy. I think my climbing form comes back.
Then we went to Tres Ponts, it was really bad weather, but it is an amazing wall.
I prefer vertical and long routes, just perfect...
After a long climbing break I need patience, but the training schedule from Anne-Marie is really good and I think with her together I become a better climber.
I have to start easy, because I feel my foot and my tendon on my arm.
But I'm motivated and I have a lot of time. I can be here in Spain until 26. november...
On the way to Santa Linya we chose a wrong street and it was raining a lot, so we had to sleep in the dirt... Look at the pictures:
After a sunny day I could drive again, fortunately... Thanks to my friends from south Tyrol.

Céüse from another view...
After 4 weeks doing nothing, I have holidays until the end of november.
I was skydiving in Gap (France) and in two days I'd like to drive to Montgrony, that's in the north of spain.
I have to push me hard after this long break, but I'm motivated to climb some nice and hard lines...
I got a training schedule from Anne-Marie and now I try to use it. I think it's really good to climb with a system, but not really easy....

Shit happens again and again.
Last weekend I destroyed my foot tapes.
Whatever sport you do, it can happen all the time and I have to learn deal with it.
The doctor said to me, after 6 weeks it's already good, but I think it goes faster.
So I make the best thing and do some pull-ups...
I have holidays in 2 weeks.............

Today I could climb "Die Pflege" (8b) again.
The last month a was working a lot and so I didn't had time for climbing.
I was really surprised...
My new training from Anne-Marie is really good and I think with her togheter, I have more chances to become a better climber.

Rätikon, Sabra

We were climbing in the beautiful Rätikon.

We made a very nice warm up route, named "Sabra".
We started at 8 o'clock in the morning with a 0.5 hour walk to the bottom of the wall.
The weather was perfect and after 5 hours of climbing we were back at my car and drank some beer.
For me it's always a very special and intensively experience in multipitchroutes.
After a day like this I feel tired, lucky and that I'm alive...

After a really cool skydiving saturday, we were climbing on sunday.
My wrist is better and so I can start with my new training.
In the second go I could climb an really overhanging 7c.
I have a new training- schedule from Anne-Marie Flammersfeld.
I'm very motivated and I think it's much better to climb with a seriously concept.
And to work with Anne-Marie it's a great privilege.

I'm very curious how it goes...

My wrist it comes better, but I feel it on the rock. I have to start climbing slowly.

We were 2 weeks skydiving to make the license. Skydi ve N u gge ts.
It was fantastic. You can't find the wright words to describe.
It's just beautiful in the air; more than 4000 meters over the ground.

Now I have finally 3 weeks time to go rockclimbing and skydiving.
After my broken wrist I have to start with the difficulty 6b. But I am motivated.
After 8 weeks doing nothing, I lost ever muscle and It's not so funny to start with zero power.

We will see...

ICE CLIMBING FESTIVAL PONTRESINA 26.03.11

Every year it is a perfect termination here in Pontresina.
That's the last iceclimbing competition after a long winter.

After the qualification of 60 meters speed climbing, my good friend Romano and I achieved the Final.
It was really hard, for 60 meters speed climbing I needed 52 seconds.
The final route was about 80 meters.
So we had to divide our power.
It's hard to breathe on this icefall, because it's about 2'900 meters over sea.

After the competition I was destroyed.
My mind and my body was completed...
We had a lot of luck, and so we won again.
We are so happy and in the evening we had a really cool party...
Steini is really crazy, but a cool show...

We planed to go to Amerika in 4 weeks.
Unfortunately I broke my hand and now we plan to go to Utah and Yosemite next autumn.
I have to make a climbing brake for about 6 weeks. It's not easy for me.
I can't do anything...
In may we make the course for skydiving, so i hope I can start with climbing in the middle of may...

My friend Mathias and I planed to go to Kandersteg to try the ice route "Crack Baby". That's a Swiss must have! (W6, 300 meters). Now the conditions are fantastic.
We were motivated but unfortunately it had a lot of snow (avalanches) and I became ill.
I was frustradet because that was the last chance in my holidays. It takes a long way from my homevillage and than you get sick! : (
But you have to accept that's normal in this sport. We are just little players and we have to understand that the nature is the boss and not we.
You have to go mountaineering always with a big bag of respect.

So we went a little bit drytooling. It's also good for your physic...

Drytooling Urnerboden

With my friend Mathias we went to Urnerboden. That was my first time there, almost like Ueschinen.

I onsighet a beautiful line named "Der Graf" (M9-).
A 45 meters long crack, a really classical route.
There was not a lot of ice, and I had a lot of respect, because you have to use friends at the top. The bolts were broken.

Drytooling in Pontresina

My friend Mathias and I we went 3 days ice- and drytoolclimbing.
At the first day we were at the beautiful 100 meter icefall at Diavolezza.

Yesterday and today we went a little bit playing in the canyon of Pontresina.

In the canyon there are 2 new crazy routes. That's always so, the first days you are drytooling again, you have to adapt to you use crampons and ice axes, that's always funny after long summer rockclimbing.

Back in the snow

I'm back at home.
It's really special, because in spain it was warm and now from today to tomorrow you have snow, you can go skiing and it's cold...
My 2 months holidays passed fast. But that's always so. When you at work, the time goes very slowly.
From private base, my holidays I did not introduce myself in such a way.
But my brithday was fantastic. I met very nice and cool peoples from Südtirol. I was really happy, that I found they.
We went in a little village and found a disco. We couldn't believe it.
After this we maked 2 rest days, and drived again to Siurana.
There we met Martina, Anselm and my good friend Röbi.
In Siurana I could climb a very famous route named "La cara que no miente" (8a+).
It was so hard for me, because that's not my climbing style. It's a overhanging tufa and the route is just 15 meters long.
I have to go more bouldering. But I was really happy.
That was a beautiful termination.
Unfortunately the holidays are finish.

Now I'd like to make a climbing break. After 2 months of just climbing I'm out of power.

I am pleased to iceclimbing and telemark...

Terradets 11.Nov.

So today it´s my birthday and we are in the bar and waiting until 12 o´clock.
Because in the shadow it´s really cold.

Yesterday I could climb the "Golpe Gas" (8b) in the fourth try.
I´m very happy and it´s a good place here to end with my holidays.

Also two other 8a´s I was able to climb onsight.

But this night we´d like to make party and then I think tomorrow we make a rest day...

Terradets 7.Nov.2010

Now we are in Terradets. It's a really crazy and beautiful area.

A lot of rocks and so much to do.
Unfortunately today it's raining.
But yesterday it was a perfect climbing day.
I could onsight a nice line with sinters and pockets (El Latido del Miedo 8a).

Here I'd like to stay a few days or maybe the rest of my holidays.
So I have time to work on a project.
I purposed a very great line. (Golpe de Gas 8b).
I will see when I´m able to climb this route...

Siurana

Now we are in Siurana. Really beautiful. But after 2 days with bad weather I climbed a nice line and on the top at the last hold, I slipped and now my finger looks not so nice.

But anyway, I have to make a break, because my tennis poor on the arm is not good.
I had to climb with two different shoes, because on the left foot I have a infection. !!
Now we are going to margalef. For me it's nice to see something else, but of course it's not easy, when I am not able to climb.
So for the next days I am the belayer.

We have very luck. The weather is so nice again, just in the night it's really cold.
I'm so happy, that I have so much time to go travelling, climbing, see new places and just to be with Cathrin.
Unfortunately Cathtrin went away to go hiking but I hope she comes back really fast.

Millau 4.10.10

The last two nights, the weather was really bad with a lot of rain and strong winds.
So windy, it seemed to me as if our tent including the two of us would be flying away.
Also today, it was raining the whole day.
But in the sector "Tennessee" we found some dry rock for climbing.

Yesterday, I could climb onsight a really nice line named "Les nouvelles plantations du christ" (8a) and another 7c ("Le plaisir qui démonte").

Today we had a short climbing session because of the rain.
Next to the "Plantations..." from yesterday, I climbed another beautiful line onsight, " Les Ailes du désir" (8a).
Both routes are about 50 meters long. It's crazy, to climb such nice long routes, your mind is completely free and only focused on the next hold, and it feels as if you were climbing for hours...

This climbing flow makes me feel like being in another world...

Millau 1.10.10

Now, we are in Millau, a paradise for climbing, biking, canyoning,...
But of course, we are mainly interested in climbing.
There is a lot of new climbing spots here and right now, the weather conditions are perfect.

I try many routes onsight.
- The route "Arachnide" 7c I could climb onsight. The older routes in this sector are really polished, but offer nice moves.
- "Keep on moving" is a really crazy line. The first pitch is a 7c+ and the second an 8a, total length 60 meters. (Here you find a lot of long routes. Perfect for me. I love long routes!) Unfortunately, I missed the onsight ascent, because I missed the last good hold. But yes, I did the 7c+ pitch in the second go.

Aiglun 27.09.10

We spent one day in Verdon, but it was really cold and very windy.
So we decided to go to Aiglun instead.
We had bought a guide book from Arnaud Petit, that lists the most recommendable climbing routes in different places.
The photo above is taken from Arnaud Petit. We climbed the route on the right hand side, "L'artisan du huitieme jour".
Cathrin encouraged me to try the entire route onsight. And I was looking forward to try so.
"L'artisan..." is a beautiful line, with two pitches 7b+, one 7b and two 7a+. The difficulty is not so hard, but for me it was a challenge to climb all pitches onsight. I didn't know, if I had enough endurance.
The first 7b+ pitch is really a cold start.
This route has different climbing styles, and that's the reason, why it is an interesting line.
There is one pitch with just sinter, while the others are overhanging and also technical. It's a perfect training to get a strong endurance.

She is showing me something, but I don't know what!!!!????--)
That's the 7b+ pitch with sinter. Cool but hard....
It was really exposed...
That was the last 7a+ pitch. My power was not so fresh any more and I had to fight hard.
I'm very happy, I could climb all pitches onsight! For me it was the first hard multipitch route I could do onsight.
To work on a redpoint ascent in a multipitch route takes a lot of time, especially if the spot is far away from home...

Ceüse 19.09.10

This nice lady is the guardian of my favourite route....

We are back in Ceüse. Juhui!!
And now we have a lot of time to go climbing. 10 weeks!
Last June we were here and I tried "Le Chirurgien du crépuscule" and after 4 or 5 days of training, I finally fell on the last quickdraw, because my foot was slipping.
In july and august I had to work, but my head was busy with the "Chirurgien" all the time.
So now I'm really happy to be back.
The first 2 days it was bad weather and really wet.
After 4 trys I could climb "Le Chirugien du crépuscule" 8b.
Arnaud Petit and also Andi Lerch, they think, maby it is even an 8b+.
It's a beautiful line, vertical with little holds and of course, big distances between the bolts.
I love Ceüse.
I'm sorry I don't have pictures with me climbing. It's not possible in pairs.
Now my head is free again and I'm ready for new projects.
But I think, during the next days in Ceüse, I'd like to try many routes onsight. We will see.
Routes like this beautiful line: A really overhanging sinter,
"Les colonnettes 7c+". You have to do it.

Piz Palü Eastpillar 21.08.2010

In Oktober 2006 I had a bad accident at the eastpillar of Piz Palü.
We were a group of 3 and I fell about 80 meters into the deep.
That accident has changed my life.
Thanks to the angels...
I really was scaried after the accident 3 years ago. Since then I haven't been on eastpillar again.
But this year it was the time to do it again. Finally I found my peace.
For me it was important, that I have a good partner. Particularly for the mental.
Phillip Hidber, it was perfect with him, and a beautiful day.
I found the crack, which was my rescuer. I let my friend there and I hope he's always there. I think the friend did his job...
That was the place where I fell. It was a special feeling.

"Kein Wasser kein Mond" 10.08.10

Mathias Schick and I went to the Schafberg.
There's a ultra alpine classicer! "Kein Wasser kein Mond" is one of the first alpine routes in the grade 7c.

Martin Scheel found a perfect line. That was in 1985.
Until now it's a really hard alpine route. High request regarding endurance, technique and mental effort.
I really had luck and asked Mathias for the belay. So I could check out the route.
In the 7c pitch I had problems.
Because it's a different style of climbing. Very technical and little holds.
After severals trys, I had a solution.
But after those trys, I didn't had enough power to give a new try from the beginning.
But I will return. It's a beautiful line.

Lagalb Projekt 8b, 8.8.2010

We went to Lagalb, that's near my hometown.
There's a projekt since maybe 3 years.
Simone Pedeferri bored it and he was the first, who could climb it.
I checked out the route and today I had really luck. Now I'm the second person in this Route.
It's a really beautiful route and about 30 meters long with a difficulty of 8b. I love long routes.
I'm really happy, because it was so hard for me.
I think, that's one of the most beautifully routes in the little Engadin.
Unfortunately it doesn't have a name.

I swear, here I'm not holding the quickdraw:--))
For me it was a perfect day.

Rätikon 29./30. Juli

After 2 weeks of working we went again to Rätikon.

On the first day, all routes were really wet, just the new "Kamala" was possible to climb. That was a just 4 weeks old route with a dificulty of 7a.
In the morning it was so cold, so after 2 meters of climbing you couldn't felt your feets and fingers. But after the first pitch, the sun was coming and so it was a cool day with my friend Röbi.
On the second day, we climbed "Lilith" 7c+.
I tried it to do all pitches onsight. I could climb all pitches in the first try.
But after 6 pitches I was really tired and so we didn't tried the 7c pitch.
For me it was the best and most beautiful route I ever have climbed in Rätikon.
Thanks to Röbi for this crazy and nice Trip.
And also thanks to Michi Wyser for this beautiful Route "Lilith".

Juhui Rätikon again.
With my friend Röbi Furger, we did a fantastic line, named "Intifada" 7a+.
It's a different climbing style. You have to stand on this flat steps.

I'm sorry for the toprope-pictures. But we don't like to make photos and at the same time you have to belay your partner.

Congratulations to Röbi. You are a "sicka hund".
And thanks for this magnificent day.

Stampa Bouldering 11.Juli 2010

Now I'm working for about 2 months and I don't have enough time to go climbing. And there are two problems with my shoulder and my tennis-poor. Maybe it's better I make a break, it's not easy, but I hope it comes good again.
My friend Gian Luck and boss we went to Stampa, that's near italy.
There are some new discovered blocks.
It's a cool balance to sportclimbing.
But i prefer to do multipitches.

La France en juin 2010

My girlfriend and I we had time for one month and first we went to Ceüse. It was my first time there, really beautiful. I think for me it's the best spot I've ever have seen.

For me it was really hard to accustom. New rock a lot of little holes and athletic.
And after two days of climbing I had problems with my arms (tennis-poor). So i maked a brake and we decided to travel to Verdon.
It was so hard to find the routes. Because we used the old guide book and this was "shit". The name of the routes they were not written. After 3 days of searching we went to a really cool climbing spot.
That was a 8a with a beautiful view on the top.
We bought the new book of verdon and we found a fantastic line.
The name of the multipitch "Ce n'est pas une pipe" 7c and 180 meters.
It was hard for me and after that we were just happy.
After a few days in verdon, because of rain we went back to Ceüse.
But I will going again to verdon and maybe to try "Ultime Démence".
We met Nina Caprez and Cedric Lachat in Ceüse and after Nina's try in the famous route "La Chirugien de crepuscule 8b (8b+)", I really wanted to climb it too.
So I checked out the route for about 3 days and I knew it, on saturday we had to go home. Unfortunately on the last day of climbing I could climb all cruxs and hard moves. I am so stupid, at the last quickdraw I fell because my foot was slipping. Shit happens.
And after 6 trys at this day I lost my energy to give a new one.
Ceüse we will coming back.

Tessin again with my girlfriend. But this time with really hot weather, some new things to try out and new ideas....

A beautiful crack, on the top you need a big friend size 6 -:)

We tried out our new portaledge on the route "super cirill". So cool to sleep in the portaledge! A really beautiful route and good training to use just friends. We made it as far as the 8a+ crack, where we ran out of friends.

It was a really cool start in the summer with warm weather. After the winter it's so beautiful to go rockclimbing.

Ice Festival Pontresina 27.March 2010

A speed ice climbing competition was organized at Diavolezza in the Engadin.
It was a hard but funny competition.
My friend Romano Salis and me were quite lucky, so we won.
